The Crédit Mobilier scandal of 1872-1873 was when stockholders in the Union Pacific Railroad formed Crédit Mobilier of America as a construction compancy and gave it contracts to build the railroad. Influential members of government were involved in getting shares in this deal and profiting by it.

The Indian Ring scandal, also known as the The Trader Post scandal,  involved President Grant's Secretary of War, William Belknap, who got  kickback payments from trading rights at US military forts on the western frontier.

The Whiskey Ring scandal involved alcohol distillers bribing government officials, and those officials in turn helping the distillers escape from paying  federal taxes on their products.  

The Boss Tweed scandal was a scandal in regard to New York City and  the corrupt political machine run there by Democratic party leader William "Boss" Tweed.
