Which of the these BEST describes the conditions needed for the successful completion of a chemical reaction?
A) The relative orientation of the particles has little or no effect on the formation of the product.
B) The relative orientation of the particles must allow for formation of the new bonds in the product.
C) The collision must involve a sufficient amount of energy, provided from the motion of the particles, to overcome the activation energy.
D) The energy of the incoming particles must be above a certain minimum value and the relative orientation of the particles must allow for formation of new bonds in the product.
pls help.

Remember that there are two important factors in determining whether a chemical reaction should take place.

1. There should be enough energy to overcome the activation energy. If you can't go above the activation energy, you can't start the reaction. The activation energy is the minimum energy you need for the reaction to start.

2. The particles should be oriented so that new bonds can be formed easily. Think about it this way-a magnet has both positive and negative ends. If you put one magnet with a positive end with another positive end, they repel each other. But if you put a positive end with a negative end, they fit together. So the particles should be oriented so that they fit together and can form new bonds (which creates the product).

So your answer should be D.
