Why does wireshark show the actual mac address of the local hosts, but not the actual mac address for the remote hosts?

Wireshark is a packet analyzer.It is used to capture, filter and analyze packets. Wireshark does not show the actual mac address of the remote hosts because they are not on the same network. If the remote host is in the same network, then it would be also a local host.Wireshark show the local MAC address.

There are different uses of the computer. The reason why the Wireshark shows the actual mac address of the local hosts, is that MAC addresses for remote hosts are said to be unknown in all local network and as such, the MAC address of the default-gateway is then used instead.

What is Wireshark?

Wireshark is known to be a kind of network protocol analyzer. It work mainly by capturing, filtering and analyzing of packets. They do not often depicts the actual mac address of the remote hosts as they are not on the same network.

Conclusively, as a network protocol analyzer, it is seen as a system application that takes in the packets from a network connection. Packet is simply a name that is ascribed to a discrete numbers of data.
