Inferential statistics differs from descriptive because it tries to give insights from raw data to a bigger conclusion that is applicable in a current situation using different statistical methodologies. Upon measuring the heights of 25 oak trees, it could be because you want to compare all he data (heights) together into for e.g. ANOVA (Analysis of Variance).
Answer with explanation:
Scientist Measures the heights of 25 oak trees. And Finds the mean of the height of 25 trees.
Inferential Statistics, is used to determine ,if the height of tree is measured again and again and it's mean is evaluated , are the means same in each trial.
So, Our main aim is to find the Variation in the values of means of different data sets and then draw the inference.
After calculating mean , suppose five times, the height of 25 oak trees, we can draw valid inferences,
1.Can find appropriate range of Mean values.
2. We can test hypothesis about the given data set ,that is the mean of height of 25 oak trees, and then either accept it or Reject it.
