To summarize a text means to succinctly state the central ideas of the text using one's own words (Option D).
Whenever you have to summarize a text, you should identify and make sure you understand the main ideas so that you are able to explain such ideas using your own words. In addition to this, when you summarize a text you should not focus on details because a summary includes only the text's important information.
