if 75% is white chocolate, then 25% is peppermint. The candy has 3 lbs of peppermint. So 25% of the total candy is 3 lbs. peppermint

0.25x = 3
x = 3 / 0.25
x = 12......so there is a total of 12 lbs of candy

with x being the total # of lbs of candy

if there is 12 lbs of candy, and 3 lbs is peppermint, then (12 - 3) = 9 lbs is white chocolate.
