Jane is walking around the edge of a rectangular park. This means that we are talking about perimeter.
The definition of perimeter is all of the sides added up.
We know that the length = 300 yards
We know that the Width = 200 feet.
Now before we add them up together.. We have to watch out! we have to deal with the same unit. So lets figure out how many feet is the length
1 yard = 3 feet
So 300 yards multiplied by 3 would give us the length in feet.
300 x 3 = 900
Now we can add up the sides of the perimeter.
Since there are four sides in a rectangle we must add up each length and width twice.
900 + 900 + 200 + 200 = 2,200
So our answer is..
Jane walked 2,200 feet around the park.
Good Luck! :)
