if the candy contains 90% milk chocolate, then it contains 10% caramel.
There are 3 lbs of caramel. So.. 10% of the total amount of candy is 3 lbs.

0.10x = 3
x = 3/0.10
x = 30....so there are 30 lbs candy in total

The variable x stands for total # of lbs of candy

If there is 30 lbs of candy, and 3 lbs are caramel, then (30 - 30) = 27 lbs are milk chocolate
