Find the equation of a line containing the points (-8,1) and (-2,-1). Express your answer in standard form using the integers or simplified fractions.

slope = (-1 - 1) / (-2 - (-8) = -2 / 6 = -1/3

y = mx + b
slope(m) = -1/3
use either of ur points...(-8,1)...x = -8 and y = 1
sub and find b, the y int
1 = -1/3(-8) + b
1 = 8/3 + b
1 - 8/3 = b
3/3 - 8/3 = b
-5/3 = b

ur equation is : y = -1/3x - 5/3...but we need it in standard form

y = -1/3x - 5/3
1/3x + y = -5/3...multiply by 3
x + 3y = -5 <== standard form
