This is an excellent example of how evolution CAN BOTH PRESERVE UNITY AND PROMOTE DIVERSITY. Unity is preserve because the molecular structure of prolactin remains constant over a long period of time and diversity is promoted because the hormonal role of prolactin has changed significantly in different animal species.
