If the current price of bread dropped by 44 cents, 9 loaves of bread would cost as much as 7 do now. What is the current price of bread?

Let current price = x cents
prior price = x+44 cents
9 loaves at current price cost 7 at prior price, so
9x=7*(x+44)
expand and rearrange,
2x=7*44=308
x=154
So the current price is $1.54
