Rectangle EFGH is graphed on a coordinate plane with vertices at E (-3,5), F (6,2),G (4,-4), and H (-5,-1) find the slope of each side

Respuesta :

jbmow
The slope of EF  and HG = (5-2)/(-3-6) = 3/-9 = -1/3
The slope of FG and EH = (2+4)/(6-4) = 6/2 = 3
Just find the slope of one side and you have the other 3 quickly, because the perpendicular leg has the negative reciprocal slope of its adjacent leg

The slope of each side will be 1/3 and 3 respectively,The slope is also known as the tangent of the angle.

What is the slope?

A numerical assessment of a line's angle relative to the ground is known as the slope.

The inclination of any line, ray, or line segment is the fraction of the perpendicular to the horizontal distance between any two positions on it.

The slope is found as ;

[tex]\rm m= \frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}[/tex]

The slope of EF and HG is;

[tex]\rm m_{EF}\= \frac {-1}{3}[/tex]

The slope of FG and EH is;

[tex]\rm m_2= \frac{2+4}{6-4} \\\\ m_2=3[/tex]

Hence,slope of each side will be 1/3 and 3 respectively,
