Systematic agriculture was one of the most important developments of prehistorical times. This practice allowed people to remain in a single place, as it gave them a constant and regular source of food. Before this, groups of people use to travel constantly looking for animals to hunt and food to gather.
As groups became sedentary, they were able to accumulate more objects, which gave rise to art and craftsmanship, and then to the accumulation of wealth, the distinction of classes and social hierarchies. This is most likely the way in which government and other social structures developed.
Moreover, the fact that food became more stable allowed families to become larger, and social groups to include more families. This led to the establishment of villages and cities, and to the development of independent cultures.
Systematic agriculture is a system oi agriculture whereby a group of people left their nomadic nature of wandering to settle down in a place and practise agriculture for self sustenance.
In the neolithic age, this systematic agriculture helped the society to:
- Build more tools,
- Marry more wives
- Have a larger community as a result
- Create wealth
