43b+13b=4-2
56b=2
b=2/56
b=1/28
Hi!

So, we're going to basically solve for b here. What that means, is we're going to isolate the variable b, and discover what its value is!

We first do this by seeing what we can simplify. Right off the bat, we can already add -13b to 43b, so let's do that! Also, remember that when we do one thing on one side of the equation - we must do it on the other!

43b + 2 = 4 - 13b
13b + 43b + 2 = 4 - 13b + 13b
56b + 2 = 4

Okay, so we have b simplified. Now what?

So, we're going to first get rid of the 2 on the left side of the equation. We want to do this because our goal is to isolate b.

Since the 2 is positive, we must subtract it from both sides. When we subtract 2 from 2, we get zero. Hence isolating b! But, we must, of course, do it on both sides.

56b + 2 = 4
56b + 2 - 2 = 4 - 2
56b = 2

We're at our last step here basically. Since our 56 is trying to multiply our variable, we must to the opposite of that in order to get rid of the 56.

The opposite of multiplication is division! So, we're going to divide 56b by 56, and then divide 2 by 56. (Because we always must do things on both sides of the equation).

56b = 2
56b/56 = 2/56
b = 2/56 (or) b = 1/28 (simplified).

Hopefully, that helps! =)
