There were several different steps taken by the Kennedy administration to resist communism. This includes:

A) Bay of Pigs Invasion- This started as a secret mission developed by the federal government to try to overthrow the communist leader of Cuba (Fidel Castro). The US secretly trained over one thousand Cuban exiles to invade Cuba and lead an overthrow of Castro. Even thought it was a huge failure, it shows the Kennedy administrations determination to stop communism from spreading.

B) Space Race and funding of NASA- The federal government, under Kennedy, gave millions of dollars to NASA to ensure they had the resources necessary to catch up and surpass the Soviet Union in terms of space accomplishments. This would help lead the US to land a man on the moon before the end of the 1960's.
