The producers in the an ecosystem produce food while the consumers eat the food produce by the producers. The bacterial in the ecosystem decompose the dead plant and animal materials and make the nutrients inside them available for plant use.
The bacteria communities on the floor of the bay will decompose plants and animal materials found on the floor of the bay and convert them to humus which is very important for healthy growth in plants. Thus the bacterial communities help the plants to get the nutrients needed for growth.
