You caught a red snapper that is 8 5/12 inches long. Your friend caught a red snapper that is 8 6/13 inches long. Who caught the larger red snapper?

I would turn them into decimals or at least have the same denominator. To find the decimal divide the numerator by the denominator.
6/13=8.46
And 5/12= 8.42
Then the person who caught the 8 6/13 red snapper caught the bigger snapper.
