The Irish were the first European immigrants who came
to the United States because of the Potato Famine. Irish people were forced to
leave their country because a massive starvation, emigration and diseases
attacked Ireland in 1845. They called the great famine as “Irish Potato Famine”.
During the famine, generally 1 million people died and a million moved to other
places that resulted in the fall of their Country’s population. The Famine
lasted for about 7 years from 1845-1852.
