A majority whip is an official in a political party whose primary purpose is to ensure party discipline in a legislature. They are seen as "party enforcers" who offer incentives to get to a specific topic and make sure that party members vote according to the official party policy. A minority whip occupies the same role who is the second-highest ranked individual in a minority party.
