To enforce the proclamation of 1763, parliament passed the Quartering Acts, which required the colonists to house British soldiers. This was a pair of acts created by the British Parliament in the local governments of the American colonies to provide the British soldiers with any needed accommodation, such as letting them spend the night in local inns, or housing.
