Phloem is a living vascular plant tissue that transports the resulting sugar from photosynthesis to parts of the plant where there is a lower partial concentration of glucose. When tapping the phloem of a maple tree, we get maple syrup running from it, the sugary organic compound resultant from photosynthesis that's being transported through the plant.
