The system of glands that is responsible for regulation of metabolism, reproduction, growth and development, tissue function, mood and sleep among other things is called the Endocrine System.
A gland is a group of specialized cells that give off or secrete chemicals.
The word endocrine comes from two Greek words, "endo" which means within and "crinis" which means to secrete or produce.
The endocrine system is made up of the following glands:
1.Pituitary gland
2.Thyroid gland
3.Adrenal glands
4.Ovaries (in females)
5.Testicles (in males)
6. Pancreas
7.Parathyroid glands
