For example. there are 100 centimeters in 1 meter, and if I wanted to know how many meters is in 450 centimeters, I would divide that number by 100, which would bring us to 4.5 meters, because you are converting from centimeters to meters.
Another thing is that if you are going from a bigger to smaller unit, you would multiply the number it takes of the small unit to be equivalent by the amount of the big unit. For example, if I wanted to know how many centimeters were in 2.3 meters, I would multiply 2.3 by 100 to get 230 centimeters, because 100 centimeters make 1 meter and we are converting from meters to centimeters.
