After the Indian Removal Act in 1830, the Native American natives were forced to relocate from their homelands in the Southeastern territories of United States. They were obligated to move to different areas to the west of the Mississippi River. This is known as the Trail of Tears.
The tribes suffered diseases, and hunger during its pilgrimage. Many died. The tribes removed were the Cherokee, the Seminole, Ponca, Chickasaw, and Choctaw.
