A good example of a primary source document is one written by someone involved in the event that is being considered. This could be for example an article in a newspaper written by the person, or their journal in which they write something about the relevant event
The best example of a primary source document useful in the study of history is one that was written by somebody that experienced what you are reading about. These sources are produced around that time and some of them are personal journals, government documents or magazine articles. These primary sources are the most reliable documentation to evaluate past events and they can also provide important clues.
Government documents, for example, provide very specific information that is very reliable. A clear example of a primary source document is the plan adopted by the Second Continental Congress in 1771 called Articles of Confederation. This official document can be consulted and it provides with reliable information.
