PLEASE HELP :(
I took a number, wrote a 9 to the right of it, and added the doubled original number to the result. The resulting sum is 633. What was the original number?

Respuesta :

Your original number would be 630

Solution:

Let the original number be  x .

As per the problem I took a number, wrote a 9 to the right of it,

So we have  x9

Again  added the doubled original number to the result.

x9+2x

The resulting sum is 633.

Also we know that, for example  112 can be written as 11*10+2

so we can write

[tex]x9+2x=633\\ \\ x*10+9*1+2x=633\\ \\  10x+2x=633-9\\ \\ 12x=624\\ \\ x=52[/tex]

Hence the original number is 52.
