Astronauts float around in space because there is no gravity in space. Everyone knows that the farther you get from Earth, the less the gravitational force is.
The space shuttle would seem so familiar to those boarding it because they have seen these type of technology before,why else would the go on something they have to knowledge of?not to mention.
We as humans learn to adapt to new situations and environments.So of course the passengers learned to adapt to the new idea of travel.
