the answer is pollution of the atmosphere by harmful gases 

After we do coal mining process, the site will release contamination of gas that consist of carbon monoxide, methane and volatile hydrocarbons.
These components would create pollution in the atmosphere, causing some damage to the people that inhaled them, and create acidic rain that would negatively impact the environment.
