Examine these two pieces of Geometric art. For each, explain what it is and describe anything you notice that is characteristic of Greek Geometric art.

Answer:
1 - Centaur - This piece represents is what was called the “geometric period”. In the nineties before our time, the Greeks seemed closer to primitive art, featuring stylized sculptures, human and fantastic figures linked to rituals and beliefs and mosaics of abstract ornamentation, especially using geometric shapes.
2 - Geometric krater from dipylon cemetery - It can be considered perhaps one of the most famous in geometric style. Note the small space that has been reserved for the figurative elements. In the scene, the stylized black figures represent a procession or funeral ritual in geometric representation.
