There are many factors which led to the victory of the north in the Civil War. The population of North was 22 million but the population of South was 9 million in which half of them were slaves. The North was industry more powerful and the USA had 94% of the pig iron and 97% of firearms.

The North was richer and has varied agriculture than the southern countries. The Union has a bigger Navy which has blocked efforts of confederacy to trade with European countries. The Confederacy thought that France and Britain will come to their aid because of the necessity of cotton. The northern countries have enough cotton. The northern countries controlled shipping, railroad avenues that allowed them in trading and get supplies fairly. The slaves went to the Union armies which provide them with more manpower. The Lee’s offensive war policy led to huge casualties that destroyed a larger part of the Confederate army.
