Autocracy is a system of government in which supreme power is concentrated in the hands of one person whose decision are not under any restraint. Netihter legal or by popular control. Modern day examples of autocracy are absolut monarchies such as Saudi Arabia or dictatorships like North Korea.

The word autocracy comes from the greek "autós" that means self and "kratos" which stands for power and takes his name after the Greek personification of authority Kratos. In the greek language the term autocrate was used for anyone with the title of emperor and the Russian tsars included the title autocrat as part of their official styles to distinguished them from the constitutionla monarchs from europe.

In which respects to the question itself the countries there numbered are:

  1. Great Britain
  2. France
  3. Germany
  4. Poland

According to my knowledege the country that had a government in the 1930s and early 1940s that was autocratic was Germany (4). To be more specific was the Nazi Germany that after have failed the attempt of putsch the National Socialist German Worker´s Party led by Adolf Hitler began with a more political focus to take the government. During the 1930s there was a tense social and political environment and the Nazis took advantage of this with clever propaganda and charismatich speeches of Hitler. He got appointed chancelor due to the people´s request and when he finally stood there began to restrict civil liberties and weakened the oposition parties to finally transform the Weimar Republic into an autocratic dictatorship where Hitler represented all Germany.
