The Philippines-American war was an armed conflict between the first republican Filipino government and U.S.A

The conflict arose when U.S.A rather than recognizing the declaration of the independence by the Philippines annexed it under the Treaty of Paris signed between U.S.A and Spain.

Referring to the Treaty of Paris, U.S.A said that as a result of the victories of American arms, the future control, disposition, and government of the Philippine Islands are ceded to the United States.

The Philippine Army continued suffering defeats from the better armed United States Army during the conventional warfare phase, forcing the former to continually change his base of operations throughout the course of the war.

Post war in 1901 the U.S. Congress passed the Army Appropriation Act containing the Spooner Amendment which provided the president with legislative authority to establish of a civil government in the Philippines.

The Jones Act, passed by the U.S. Congress in 1916 to serve as the new organic law in the Philippines, promised eventual independence and instituted an elected Philippine senate

The Tidings'–McDuffie Act (officially the Philippine Independence Act; Public Law 73–127) approved on March 24, 1934, provided for self-government of the Philippines and for Filipino independence (from the United States) after a period of ten years.

Post World War 2 In 1946, the Treaty of Manila (1946) between the governments of the U.S. and the Republic of the Philippines provided for the recognition of the independence of the Republic of the Philippines and the relinquishment of American sovereignty over the Philippine Islands.
