What is Athenian Democracy?
Athenian Democracy is developed around 6th century B.C in Athens. The are where it is practiced was Athens and near by areas of Attica.
Athens practiced a political system of legislation and executive bills. Participation was open to adult and male citizens who were probable 30% of the total population.
The democratic model based on three pillars:
-The assembly of DEMOS
-The council of 500
-The people's Court.
They were supplemented by the council of the Areopagus, the Archons and the Generals.
The assembly was the regular gathering of male Athenian citizens and women also enjoyed right without political one, to listen , discuss and vote on decrees affecting the aspect of life both public and private.
In assembly, each male citizen of Athens could speak regardless of his station. The assembly discuss the affair of the citizen having freedom to speak, which was vital to have proper functioning of the Assembly .
Citizens were paid to attend the assembly to ensure maximum and collective participation
