OR just look at the picture and count the shaded one ... [tex] \frac{1}{20} [/tex] 

[tex] \frac{1}{2} [/tex] ÷ 6 
= [tex] \frac{1}{2} [/tex]  x [tex] \frac{1}{6} [/tex] 
= [tex] \frac{1}{12} [/tex]

This is easy. Just count all the rectangles and you know it will be that many out of 1.

20 squares in the first one, so 1/4 ÷ 5 = 1/20

12 squares int he second one, so 1/2 
÷ 6 = 1/12
