Total Purchase = 4 + 12 + 17.50 = $33.50

Total Purchase including sales tax = 1.06 x  $33.50 = $35.51

4 x $10 = $40

Change = 40 - 35.51 = $4.49
Carmen will receive $4.49 back in change.
