A solid melting.
A solid has closely packed particles that only vibrate in place. When the object is heated, the particles start to gain energy, moving faster and sliding past one another. A liquid has particles that move around, slide past one another, and take the shape of the container. Thus, this is the change from a solid to a liquid, also known as a solid melting.
