1. The independence movement and the American Revolution (1775-83) enabled colonists to set the foundations of state government. Before the Declaration of Independence was drafted, Georgia patriots organized a Provincial Congress to work with other colonies in winning independence
2. They are the Executive, (President and about 5,000,000 workers) Legislative (Senate and House of Representatives) and Judicial (Supreme Court and lower Courts). The President of the United States administers the Executive Branch of our government.
3. Most governors have broad authority to nominate officials to serve in state executive branch positions—many of whom will be included in the governor's advisory committee, known as the "cabinet." Governors may be empowered as well to make appointments to state judgeships.
