During the
Napoleonic War, Americans were angry at the British because they were
determined to destroy the U.S. economy. The situation was put to arms because
ocean trade routes established in the early 1800s were closed down by the
British. During those days, the seafaring trade was booming and it was crucial
for economic control and power to different countries.
In able to the defeat the French Navy, Britain initiated an economic maritime
blockade. Basically, Britain canceled any assumed neutrality with all other
countries including America. They established new sets of laws that did not
allow American ships to undergo any seafaring trade. By the time that the law
was suspended, conflict of the Anglo-American had already begun.
