I am just making up and example but if a recipe asked for a 3/5 tablespoon, and you needed to double it, you would have to multiply
1. (3/5)*(2/1)
(it's 2/1 because that signifies a whole number.)
2. Multiply straight across which would be (3*2) over (5*1)
3. 3*2= 6, and 5*1= 5 so you get 6/5. which is like 1 & 1/5 tablespoons
