Ieyasu Tokugawa founded the Tokugawa Shogunate after winning the Battle of Shekigahara in 1600.  He made many achievements during life.  During his time Japan was now ruled as a unified country.  He made possible by quelling clans who opposed him.  Apart from that, he also established relations with Europeans like the Dutch. He also built Edo Castle.  He firmly established his clan’s hold on the country that would last for centuries. Apart from that he was also one of the Japan’s greatest field commanders and that was shown in his victory at Shekigahara.
