The  Italian Unification or Risorgimento was a social and political movement that amalgamated the  states of the  Italian peninsula into a single entity  of the Kingdom of Italy during the 19th century. The amalgamation was finally concluded by the leaders such as Giuseppe Garibaldi and Camilo Cavour in 1870. The  whole process of amalgamation was accomplished with sturdy leadership and foreign power(Prussian) intervention.

The whole  instance started  with Count Camillo di Cavour's appointment to the office “Prime Minister” of the Kingdom of “Piedmont-Sardinia” in the year  1852.
