When workers are a part of a team their compensation should be based on the performance of a team as a whole. If there are specialized rewards they can be broken down into individual contributions. When doing a project as a team, the entire group is going to be paid for the work they did. Often times, each person plays a different but vital role in how the project gets completed. They can't do one part without the other and shouldn't be penalized or rewarded differently initially if their part takes more or less time to complete.
