The Smoot-Hawley tariff was a tariff established in 1930 right after the Great Depression in order to combat imports and give some resources to the flailing US economy. The acronym GATT stands for General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade and was established in 1948. Its focus was to eliminate trade barriers and encourage trade and financial cooperation between countries. In 1995, it was substituted by the World Trade Organism; this provides the countries with a framework to discuss trade agreements. Thus, the correct void filling is: GATT, WTO.
