Most orogenesis occurs along convergent margins of plate boundaries.
Orogenesis, the procedure of mountain building, happens when two structural plates impact - either driving material upwards to frame mountain belts, for example, the Alps or Himalayas; or making one plate be sub ducted beneath the other, bringing about volcanic mountain chains, for example, the Andes.
This process occurs more rapidly in the convergent margins of plate boundaries. It is a type of collision which leads to the formation of suture at the site of occurrence and makes the old border visible.
