To find the midpoint
1. Add up the 2 fractions
2. Divide the fraction by 2

Add the 2 fractions

[tex]\dfrac{1}{2} + \dfrac{3}{4} = \dfrac{2}{4} + \dfrac{3}{4} = \dfrac{5}{4}[/tex]

Divide the fraction by 2

[tex]\dfrac{5}{4} \div 2 = \dfrac{5}{4} \times \dfrac{1}{2} = \dfrac{5}{8}[/tex]

[tex]\bf \text {Answer :} = \dfrac{5}{8}[/tex]

You could find the midpoint using the equation for the midpoint, but there's a simpler method. Find the least common denominator of the two fractions, which is 4 because 2*2 is 4 and 4*1 is 4. The resulting fractions are 2/4 and 3/4. Now what is halfway between 2 and 3(4 can be ignored because the denominator is constant). Halfway between 2 and 3 is just 2.5, so the fraction halfway between 1/2 and 3/4 is 2.5/4, or 5/8.
