Histamine in Digestion Histamine plays a role in gastric secretion by helping to induce the production of acid in the stomach. Histamine in sleep: the body regulates the amount of histamine in circulation and maintains a careful balance.
Histamine is a molecule which has a role in releasing gastric acid in the stomach. Histamine is released from the ECL cells (in gastric glands) and stimulates parietal cells(secrete HCl). As a result, the pH of the stomach starts to decrease, which is a signal for digestive enzymes to work.
