In a prokaryotic cell on the other hand, a primary transcript in is the same size as the functional mRNA. A primary transcript is the single stranded ribonucleic acid product synthesized by transcription of DNA, and processed to yield various mature RNA products such as mRNAs, rRNAs and tRNAs.
