Ted throws an object into the air with an initial vertical velocity of 54 feet per second from a platform that is 40 feet above the ground. About how long will it take the object to hit the ground? show steps please.

the verticle motion formula:  h = -16t² + vt + s  where t = time, v = initial velocity and s = initial height

 h = -16t² + vt + s
0 = -16t² + 54t + 40  You  will need to use the quadratic formula to solve this
