You could solve this by finding the area of a trapezoid or finding the area of a rectangle and two triangles then adding them together.

We'll solve this by finding the area of a rectangle + two triangles.

Area of rectangle: length x width
                                12 cm x 8 cm = 96 cm²

Area of triangles: 1/2(base x height) x 2
                               1/2(1.5 cm x 8 cm) x 2 = 12 cm²

Add up 96 and 12 = 108

The area of the front face of the building block is 108 cm².
