What is the difference between an organ and an organ system?

The difference between an organ and an organ system is that an organ is part of an organ system. There are organs in an organ system.

For your organ system, describe how the system works at the organ level.

The mouth helps the food get to small enough pieces, to where it can down to through the esophagus and into the stomach. The esophagus is a long, narrow tube that connects the stomach to the mouth, and it is also where the food goes down through to get to the stomach. The stomach is the organ that is responsible for using chemicals to make foods into a liquid state where it is then passed to the small intestine.

For your organ system, describe how the system works at the tissue level.

The epithelial tissue covers organs and protects them from bacteria that may get to them. The muscle tissues are responsible for moving fluids through your body. The glandular tissue is responsible for creating organs.

Describe what would happen if an organ in your specific organ system stopped working.

If an organ in the digestive system would stop working, then the whole system would stop working. If the digestive system is not working then your body will not be able digest food.Β
